Flood Claims

Did you know that flooding is the most common natural disaster in the United States? And, roughly 25 percent of flood claims are filed in moderate to low risk areas. We not only handle flood claims in Northwest Florida from our office in Pensacola, but also handle flood claims on a national level. Past and present clients include flood victims from Texas, Tennessee, Florida, Georgia, Alabama, and Mississippi. Millions of dollars have been collected for families who have been victimized by flooding.

The office of Samuel Bearman is currently representing flood victims all over the United States. Dennis Abbott, who serves as a consultant to Mr. Bearman, has over 30 years of experience in dealing with insurance claims. Mr. Abbott is also the founder of Disaster Consulting Services, LLC. This is a privately owned Florida limited liability company, which provides facts, information and reference material for the benefit of disaster victims, adjusters, contractors, and legal professionals. Mr. Bearman and Mr. Abbott have provided assistance with hundreds of claims stemming from Hurricanes Ivan, Katrina, Ike, Erin and Opal.

Hurricanes Erin and Opal did significant damage to the Navarre area, east of Pensacola, in 1995. Mr. Bearman handled between 50 to 100 hurricane claims based primarily on hurricane Opal damage. This included both windstorm and flood claims. In the only case that went to trial, Mr. Bearman was offered $10,000.00 by the insurance company, his client authorized him to ask for $25,000.00, and the jury returned a verdict for the full policy limits of  $100,000.00. In addition, the insurance company was required to pay attorneys fees, interest, and case expenses.

Flood insurance is the ultimate insurance paradox. There are thousands of flood insurance policies but very few people seem to understand them. There are probably more flood insurance claims every year than any other type of insurance claim, but few attorneys know how to handle them. Not many people seem to like the federal flood insurance program but, if it were not for the government issuing flood insurance policies, there would be no flood insurance and America would be very different from the way we know it: there would be few, if any, homes or buildings of any kind near the oceans, the gulfs, the rivers, or other bodies of water:

Mr. Samuel Bearman and Mr. Dennis Abbott have written a book to minimize the paradox by providing an explanation about flood insurance and the handling of a claim. A person reading and understanding this book should be able to handle a flood insurance claim, whether that person is the insured or an attorney for the insured. The authors know of no book about flood insurance, other than federal government manuals, and they hope that this book makes flood insurance easy to understand.
